Baked Cheese Potatoes 4 large baking potatoes, peeled and coarsely grated 2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper Pinch nutmeg 1 egg, slightly beaten 2 cups milk 1 cup Swiss cheese, grated 1 clove garlic, peeled and cut into halves Butter or margarine Season grated potatoes with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Combine egg and milk and add to potatoes. Add 3/4 cup of the grated cheese and mix well. Rub inside of casserole dish with the cut garlic clove. Generously grease casserole. Heap potato mixture into casserole and sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup of cheese. Dot with butter or margarine and bake in a 350 degree oven for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours. Serves 4. |
