Chocolate Chip Caramel Squares 2 1/3 cups flour 2 cups oatmeal 1 cup brown sugar 1 tsp. soda 1/4 tsp. salt 1 cup butter, melted 2 cups chocolate chips 1 1/2 cups chopped nuts 1 cup (12 oz. jar) caramel ice cream topping Combine 2 cups flour, oatmeal, brown sugar, soda and salt in large bowl. Stir in butter. Reserve 1 cup. Press remaining mixture into ungreased 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Bake in 350 degree oven for 15 minutes until light brown. Remove from oven and sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts. Combine caramel topping with 1/3 cup flour and drizzle over the base. Sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes, until lightly browned. Cool in pan on wire rack. Makes 2 1/2 dozen squares. |
