Jumbo Raisin Cookies 2 cups raisins 1 cup water 1 cup shortening 2 cups sugar 3 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 1 cup nut meats 4 cups flour 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. soda 1/2 tsp. each nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice Boil raisins in water for 5 minutes. Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, vanilla and nuts. Sift dry ingredients together and add with raisins and water. Drop by teaspoonfuls on a cookie sheet and bake 10 or 12 minutes at 400 degrees. |
