Marshmallow Brownies 1/2 cup butterscotch pieces 1/4 cup butter or margarine 3/4 cup flour 1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar 1 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 egg 1 cup miniature marshmallows 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate pieces 1/4 cup chopped nuts Melt butterscotch pieces and butter or margarine in a heavy 3 quart saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and cool to lukewarm. Add flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, vanilla and egg to butterscotch mixture in saucepan. Mix well. Fold marshmallows, chocolate pieces and nuts into butterscotch batter just until combined, about 5 strokes. Spread in greased 9 inch square pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Do not overbake. Center will be quite soft, but will become firm upon cooling. Makes 12 to 18 bars. |
