Nutmeg Butter Cookies 1 cup butter (no substitutes) 3/4 cup sugar 1/2 cup powdered sugar 1 egg 1 tsp. vanilla 2 1/2 cups flour 1/2 tsp. soda 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 1/8 tsp. salt Cream butter and sugars. Beat in egg and vanilla and mix well. Combine flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, nutmeg and salt. Add to creamed mixture and mix well. Refrigerate for 1 hour. Shape into 1 inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets. Flatten with glass dipped in sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes, until lightly browned. Cool on wire rack. Makes 6 dozen. |
