Orange Refrigerator Cookies 2 3/4 cups flour, sifted 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp baking soda 1/4 tsp. baking powder 1/2 cup shortening 1/2 cup butter, softened 1/2 cup white sugar 1 egg 2 Tbsp. orange juice 1 Tbsp. grated orange rind 1/2 tsp. lemon extract 1 cup nuts, finely chopped 1/2 cup brown sugar Mix shortening, butter, brown and white sugars. Add egg, orange juice, rind and lemon extract; mix thoroughly. Add dry ingredients and nuts. Shape dough into roll and chill. When firm, slice very thin and bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. |
