Snohomish County Events

July 4, 2009 - Arlington 4th of July Festival, Arlington, Washington.  Events at Haller and Quake parks and downtown.  Includes a pancake breakfast, Pedal, Puddle, Puff Triathlon, grand parade, duck dash and fireworks.

July 4, 2009 - Old Fashioned 4th of July, Darrington, Washington.  Parade begins at noon, grange fair at Old School Park, 1 to 3 p.m., and fireworks begin at dark.

July 10-12, 2009 - Arlington Street Fair, Arlington, Washington, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Includes vendors and entertainment.

July 10-12, 2009 - Sultan Summer Shindig, River Park and Main Street, Sultan, Washington.  Logger's contest, parade, street fair and more.  Hours are Friday 3 to 10 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Skagit County Events

July 1-5, 2009 - Loggerodeo, various locations, Sedro-Woolley, Washington.  The oldest Fourth of July celebration in Washington State.  Includes parades, a logging show, chainsaw carving, a carnival, arts and crafts, and a fireworks display.

July 4, 2009 - Fourth of July Parade & Fireworks over the Channel, LaConner, Washington.  The parade begins at 11 a.m., a community picnic with kids' games runs from noon to 3 p.m. at Pioneer Park, and the fireworks over Swinomish Channel begin at 10 p.m.  

July 18, 2009 - Cadillacs Forever Car Show & Street Dance, LaConner, Washington.  The car show runs from noon to 4 p.m., followed from 7 to 10 p.m. by a wine and beer garden with music by Jr. Cadillac.  Admission to the car show is free, admission to the Jr. Cadillac concert is $10.  Cost to enter a car in the show is $25.

July 18, 2009 - Anacortes Shipwreck Day, Commercial Avenue, Anacortes, Washington, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (but insiders suggest getting there at first light for best deals).  Giant garage sale.

July 18-19, 2009 - Skagit Artists Together Studio Tour, throughout Skagit County, Washington.  Skagit County artists open their studios to the public.  Pick up brochures at the Mt. Vernon public library and other locations.  Map and brochure locations listed online.

July 25, 2009 - Samish Bay Bivalve Bash and Low Tide Mud Run, Taylor Shellfish Farm, off the south end of Chuckanut Drive, Bow, Washington, 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Includes a tideflats run, food, beer garden, music, kids events and games, on the beach at an oyster farm. No pets, no coolers.  Admission is $5, kids 6 and under attend free.  *Tricky road for a large RV.

August 6, 2009 - Skagit County Pioneer Picnic, Pioneer Park, LaConner, Washington.  Salmon barbecue and music.  Begins at 10:30 a.m., barbecue served at noon, $10 per person.  Open to the public.

August 12-15, 2009 - Skagit County Fair, Skagit County fairgrounds, Mt. Vernon, Washington.  Check website for times and admission prices.  Free admission Wednesday, August 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

August 15, 2009 - LaConner Classic Yacht and Car Show, LaConner Marina South Basin, SYC Yacht Club, 312 N. Second Street, LaConner, Washington, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., $3 admission, kids age 12 and under, free.

September 18-19, 2009 - Shop Skagit Trade Fair, Best Western CottonTree Inn, 2300 Market Street, Mount Vernon, Washington.  Trade show open to the public.

Whatcom County Events

June 27, 2009 - Lake Padden Triathlon, Lake Padden, Bellingham, Washington.  Triathlon includes swimming, biking and running.  The competitive division begins at 8:30 a.m. and the recreation division begins at 1 p.m., both at the Lake Padden boathouse.  Cost is $50 for pre-registration by May 27, or $60 for registration from May 28 on.  No day of race registration.

July 4, 2009 - Haggen Family Fourth of July Celebration, Zuanich Point Park, Bellingham, Washington, 1 p.m. to after dark.  Fireworks begin at 10:30 p.m.  Includes live music, arts and crafts, food, kids activities, a beer garden and more.

July 4-5, 2009 - Old Fashioned 4th of July, Blaine, Washington.  Includes a July 4th grand parade at noon, a show and shine car show, arts and crafts, kids games, music, fireworks, a community picnic, and more events on the 5th.

July 17-18, 2009 - Lynden Raspberry Festival, various locations including downtown Lynden, Washington.  Includes a 3 on 3 basketball tournament, raspberry ice cream sundaes, berry farm tours, wagon rides, more. Celebrates the largest raspberry harvest in North America.

July 18-19, 2009 - Discovery Days, Sea Links Golf Course, 7878 Birch Bay Drive, Birch Bay, Washington, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.  Parade along Birch Bay Drive on Saturday.  Arts and crafts, music, more.

July 23-26, 2009 - Old Settlers' Pioneer Days, Pioneer Park and downtown Ferndale, Washington.  Includes a celebration of early Whatcom County pioneers, a kids parade and grand parade, entertainment, and more.  Pioneer Park includes a collection of authentic pioneer homes, cabins and other buildings.

July 25, 2009 - Padden Duathlon 1/3 Less Race, dog off leash area, Lake Padden Park, Bellingham, Washington, starts at 9:30 a.m.  Includes two runs and road biking (no swimming).  Cost is $20 for pre-registration by June 24,and $25 late registration.

August 5-8, 2009 - Puget Sound Antique Tractor & Machinery Show, Berthusen Park, Lynden, Washington.  Also known locally as the "threshing bee."  Includes demonstration of antique farm machinery, threshing, tractor pulls, steam powered sawmill demonstrations, demonstrations of pioneer life and more.

August 8, 2009 - Bellingham Youth Triathlon, Arne Hanna Aquatic Center, 1114 Potter Street, Bellingham, Washington.  Includes swimming, biking and running in three divisions for ages 6 through 13, staggered starts begin at 9 a.m.  Cost is $15 for registration by July 8, 2009, and $20 for registration from July 9 to the day of the race.  

August 8-9, 2009 - Civil War Reenactment, Hovander Homestead Park, Nielsen Road, Ferndale, Washington.  Annual costumed reenactment of civil war battles.  Open to visitors (costumes not required).

August 17-22, 2009 - Northwest Washington Fair, Northwest Washington Fairgrounds, Front Street, Lynden, Washington.  Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, $3 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for children ages 5 and under.  Season passes are also available.

August 29, 2009 - Ferndale Downtown Street Festival, downtown Ferndale, Washington, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. 

September 12, 2009 - Fairhaven Runners Waterfront 15K, begins at the Fairhaven Village Green, Bellingham, Washington.  Check in is at 7 a.m. and the race begins at 8:30 a.m.  Cost is $20 for pre-registration by July 12, and $25 for late registration, July 11 to September 10.  Registration is capped at 1,000.  

October 11, 2009 - Runningshoes.com Mountain Bike Duathlon, begins at the Lake Padden Park dog off leash area, Bellingham, Washington, at 11 a.m.  Cost is $15 for pre-registration by September 10, and $20 for late registration from September 11 to the day of the race.
