County, Washington - Summer Outdoor Cinema
Different groups present outdoor cinema
in Bellingham each summer.
The Traveling Pickford Show,is an
annual project of the Whatcom Film Association. For summer 2008,
their films are primarily being screened as Thursday theme nights in the beer garden of Boundary
Bay brewery, 1107 Railroad Avenue, Bellingham, Washington. As
Boundary Bay serves alcohol, no minors are allowed at the Boundary
Bay films. An additional Friday night outdoor film for
everyone is scheduled on Bay Street in downtown Bellingham.
Fairhaven Outdoor Cinema is a series of outdoor films,
shown
at the Fairhaven Village Green, 10th & Mill Streets in
Bellingham, Washington's, Fairhaven District., which are organized
by Epic Events and Promotion as part of the Comcast
Outdoor Cinema and Concert Tour, which also includes
the Sedro-Woolley outdoor film series.
Bellingham Downtown Movies in the Park is a new series for
2008. The schedule is to be announced.
Admission
Admission to The Traveling Pickford's Bay Street film is free.
Admission to The Traveling Pickford's Boundary Bay series is $3 per
person, or $5 with unlimited popcorn.
Seating
Bring your own chairs for the Bay Street film. Bring blankets
or low-backed chairs for the Boundary Bay series. Seating is on the ground. Attendees are encouraged to
bring blankets and/or low-backed lawn chairs.
Food
Boundary Bay offers food and drink, and film-goers can order dinner
to go with the movie. An unlimited popcorn admission option is
also available. You may bring your own food and non-alcoholic
beverages to the Bay Street show. For the Fairhaven Outdoor
Cinema, it's okay to bring your own food, and many
movie-goers bring picnics. Movie-style concessions
are also available.
Dogs?
Dogs are discouraged at most locations.
Parking
Parking varies by location. It's most challenging in
Bellingham's Fairhaven District, so if you want to
park in Fairhaven come early, or park on Railroad
Ave. in downtown Bellingham and catch a city bus to
Fairhaven and back. You can also park on Railroad Avenue for
the Boundary Bay series and the Bay Street film. Downtown
Bellingham's parkade at 1300 Commercial Street is free after 5
p.m.
